Anyone catching the reruns of Murphy Brown? |
|
I never watched this show during it original run. It sure scared Dan Quayle though. Pretty good show.

4. Murphy crucified George Bush I in a way that would NEVER be allowed today |
|
Her show would not be allowed to air today, and thats a sad commentary on where we've come to.

One show last week ended with a truck dumping a load of potatoes on the White House lawn.
That would for sure get a show in trouble nowadays.

9. Forgotten how much I liked that show--and Macgyver, and Highway to Heaven. |
|
You know it's sad when I'm looking for reruns as opposed to the new eps of today's shows.
But I never caught Macgyver nor Highway to Heaven (that's the name, right?) in the original run. I'm kind of impressed with the writing for both, considering what I expected(though Macgyver is laden with silly hero talk and cute phrases) I am way impressed with Michael Landon in the role of an angel.
Murphy Brown was a great show.
Many thanks to Nick at Nite (they used to show Dobie Gillis, Dragnet, and The Patty Duke Show) and TVLand.

11. Have you seen Nick at Nites Black History Month Tributes? |
|
I have really enjoyed those. Really classy and moving.
I enjoy the reruns too. Highway to Heaven makes me cry. I told my daughter that Touched by an Angel was a Highway to Heaven rip-off. She watched an episode and totally agreed.
I really respect Michael Landon. I think he did his best to bring dignity and kindness and human warmth to television with his characters on Highway to Heaven and Little House on the Prairie and Bonanza. (Yes, even Little Joe always tried to see the best in people, even the town bad girls. :) )

12. Yeah, I've seen those. |

The Black History Month bits are thought provoking and very good. However, I've never seen HTH. I love a good cry and stories about people. When does it come on?

14. They showed the kids' cancer camp one and my eyes were brimming... |
|
Touched by an Angel is SUCH a ripoff. What separate the two is Michael Landon and the other guy, two "men's men". Much less touchy feely, and better acted besides. I am just realizing Landon's bigger body of work (he's always been Pa :) ), and what a man he seems to have been.
BTW, it comes on 3pm EST too.
I've caught the tributes, enjoy them.

15. And Jonathan doesn't have to go around tellin' everyone he's an angel |
|
Him and Mark just help others see how they can help themselves or help others. Very low-key on the God and angel stuff, more focused on how there's good in everyone.
Gosh, I'm such a HTW fan :)
