I voted for winsor mccay because he is far better illustrator than herge. of course herge is a far better writer. I've got all the published work of both artists.
by the way, there's a dvd of winsor mccay's animation available: The Milestone Collection Winsor McCay The Master Edition. it contains animation that predates gertie, things like Dream of a Rarebit Fiend, even a couple of live action/animation shorts filmed before 1910. pretty cool stuff. mulsh-bob sez check it out.
