How do you store your CDs?
Do you keep them in their original cases or in those CD-album things, or some other way? Just curious. Some of my friends toss their cases right away, but I like to keep them even though they take up space (and I don't really have a huge collection anyway).

1. binder like you have shown there.
I move around too much and the cases just wind up breaking.

2. I always keep mine in cases....
I'm a stickler about stuff like that. I like the whole package to be there when I listen to something. I built myself a huge wall case to hold my 2,000 cds. Of course I haven't listened to any of them in a year since I converted them all to MP3 and use my ipod all the time.

3. Keep CDs in a large case,
but save originals for.. the sake of having lots of pretty cases. That's for music anyway, since I bring it around, between car, house, portable player, and carrying tons of jewel cases would be no good. For like software though, it stays in original case. Cept for the foot-high stack of random CDs I have uncased and have to constantly search through.

9. Yer doing it wrong!
Alphabetical storage lets you place Dio and Dr. Dre back to back... how could you argue with that???

:P

7. Agreed!
I do have one of those vinyl binder thingys for packing what I use for road music. I keep it loaded at all times (about 12 hour's worth), but they always go back in the jewel cases once removed from the binder.

22. Damn right, those notebooks are murder on your CD's
Seriously, I found out the hard way, most of the padding will put little hairline scratches in your CD's. I wouldn't use them if you want to have them around for more than a year.

So, yeah, for me its on a shelf, in the case, and alphabetized. There's no other way to do it.

8. how do you Organize your cd's
Edited on Fri Feb-25-05 10:55 AM by LiberallyInclined
mine are organized by number of syllables first- for instance, Moose has 1 syllable, The The has 2, R.E.M. has 3, and Hooverphonic has 4.

inside the syllable grouping, the order is alphabetical, and each band has it's albums arranged chronologically.

12. Store the originals in binders, the jewel cases in storage locker
but after having had too many cds and cd binders stolen from cars, I now burn all my cds onto mp3 format by album, and carry those compilations instead of the originals. I can usually fit between 8 and 10 cd's worth of music on 1 mp3 CD-R.

15. on spindles
I burn so many CDs that I put the ones I know I'll listen to a lot in jewell cases. Then I put the lower interest discs on spindles of 50. I'll admit, it's really out of control.

16. in jewel cases, on shelves
Alphabetically, by artist.

At least, the ones that fit on the shelves. I think we have +/- 10,000 CDs.

20. I found one of my son's in the freezer last night
Yep... I went to get some ice, and there it was, in the door of the freezer... no case, nothing.

I think he went to put the ice back in the freezer and put the CD in there instead, because he left the ice out on the counter.
