Do you mind people standing over your shoulder while you're trying to work |
|
Bugs the hell out of me, frankly.

1. Are you kidding? I thought everyone hated that. |
|
I also thought it was well-known to be rude and unprofessional behavior.

get all frustrated and say something really nasty even to people I would normally like. They have no idea what it does to me. It makes my skin crawl.

7. One of my professors does that... |
|
when I'm talking to an athlete or trying to do an injury evaluation. It makes me really nervous and I don't need people breathing down my neck when I'm trying to work. If I need help, I'll ask for it...evaluate me from a distance please!

9. Try having someone sitting beside you jacking into your |
|
phone line so they can listen to your calls with a customer.
I understand the need for monitoring, but please do it somewhere else!

In my case, the department phone is right behind my desk, so when people get calls, they stand right behind me
I HATE that. I know they aren't there to look over my shoulder, but it's still unpleasant.

12. Agh! Agh! That makes me NUTS! But even worse |
|
is the fact that I have a large office chair (because it's one of those Bodybilt ergonomic ones) and not only do people hanging over my shoulder bump into it, but I have to tell them to move before I can move the chair so the rollers don't run over their feet!
(Maybe a crushed toe or two would get the message across, come to think of it.)
I can't stand even my WIFE doing that, and we have a damn good relationship otherwise.

13. I love it even more when my asshat supervisor |

stands over me and swings his ID badge around hundreds of times. It really makes me feel trusted and valued and makes me more productive. :grr: evilfrown: :puke: :nuke: :grr: evilfrown: :puke: :nuke: :grr: evilfrown: :puke: :nuke: :grr: evilfrown: :puke: :nuke: :grr: evilfrown: :puke: :nuke: :grr: evilfrown: :puke: :nuke: :grr: evilfrown: :puke: :nuke: :grr: evilfrown: :puke: :nuke:

1) Indicates a lack of trust in the employee. You don't trust me? Fire me.
2) It's a distraction. I want to work at my best efficiency. When someone stands behind me it splits my attention, and my work suffers.
3) People hardly ever just "stand behind" to watch someone work. A person who does that is generally a back seat driver, and THAT bugs the living SH*T out of me. I'm not a puppet, nor a prosthetic extension of your will. You want the work done PRECISELY your way? YOU sit down and do it youself.
4) Don't YOU have work of your own to do? Why the hell are you wasting time standing behind me, slack *ss?
