Post your nomination for FAVORITE SONG EVER poll
Follow these directions minutely, or there will be trouble.

Post the title to a single song in the subject line. Feel free to list all your runnerup songs in the message area.

If your song is already posted, please reply to that post with a Ditto (ok maybe not that word; just say Oxycontin), again adding any second choices, misgivings or other comments in the message area.

If you change your mind, just post the new song, or ditto it if somebody else posts. I promise that nobody will accuse you of schizophrenia. We've all noticed by now that favorite songs, favorite artists, etc., change from day to day for nearly everybody.

No limitations whatsoever on style or period, although I have a shrewd notion that greatest support will accrue to rocknroll hits from the 60s, 70s and 80s. Remember, I'm the guy who did the most recent How old are we? poll. I know all.

Editorial commentary, ie "undisclosedlocation is an asshole" might be better placed in a separate thread. With all the dittos that it would engender, "undisclosedlocation is an asshole" would end up on the FAVORITE SONG EVER poll, which I'm sure everybody will agree would be a tragedy.

I'll compile the responses into an actual poll some time after there are at least 100 of them, which is to say when heck freezes over :)

20. How Soon is Now? -- The Smiths
I remember vividly the first time I heard that song.
I'd never heard anything like it. And it touched me in a special place deep inside.

I've never had a song affect me that way before or since.
Unfortunately, it is now way overplayed on 80s nostalgia radio. Which I don't understand because the Smiths were NEVER on the radio in the 80s. At least, not in Phoenix.

47. "The Way You Look Tonight" by Jerome Kern and Dorothy Fields
Edited on Fri Oct-10-03 03:17 PM by Richardo
Some day, when I'm awfully low,
When the world is cold,
I will feel a glow just thinking of you...
And the way you look tonight.

Yes you're lovely, with your smile so warm
And your cheeks so soft,
There is nothing for me but to love you,
And the way you look tonight.

With each word your tenderness grows,
Tearing my fear apart...
And that laugh that wrinkles your nose,
It touches my foolish heart.

Lovely ... Never, ever change.
Keep that breathless charm.
Won't you please arrange it ?
'Cause I love you ... Just the way you look tonight.

69. Crazy Train
Don't they play the into every three minutes at a football game?
I also like:
Roll with the Changes - REO
Bad Reputation - Joan Jett
Come Sail Away - Styx, and
anything by Def Leppard. Cripes there is way too much Zeppelin on this list. I loathe them. I cannot understand their appeal. I think my room 101 would be a place where I was forced to listen to their greatest hits.
