What was your FIRST EVER cat?
Edited on Fri Feb-25-05 11:08 PM by arwalden
Or dog... or pet.

The first dog I remember having was when I was 5... her name was Annie... a beagle looking mutt. Sweet as she could be. She got sick and I was told that she was "sad"... she needed to be on a farm where she could run and play in a large farmyard. (My parents were trying to protect me... and I believed them.)

16. My first cat was named Butterball too!
actually, she was my sister's cat. She really didn't have much of a personality. I was strictly a dog person myself until college, when a tiny orphaned kitten named Peewee came into my life. He was the best pet I ever had.

My first pet, though, was a guinea pig named Alice.

As an adult....

My first cat : Stevie Lee Jones, a Balinese
My first snake: Cleo, false water cobra
First toad: Charmin' (believe it or not, he would come to me when I called his name)

8. I had childhood pets
that my parents got and subsequently gave away, sigh.

But the first ever chosen by ME for ME cat was Dinah...a gorgeous
fluffy tortoiseshell lovely girl...I adored her. I lost her at a
young age, sadly to a kidney problem but I had her daughter, Sexy
Sadie who lived to a ripe old 17. She had a gold star on her forehead
and yes, she was my bestest ever friend.

9. Tiger Kitty
Edited on Fri Feb-25-05 11:09 PM by CottonBear
He was my first cat. My friend Dana's cat, Amos, had a litter and one of the females had Tiger Kitty. I knew nothing about cats. He lived with me in the country. Tiger was an intact male (I did not know that I should have him fixed...)
He lived with me and my white German Shepherd Maggie and my Black Lab-Retriever Samantha. He would go on walks in the country, through woods and fields. We could go for a 2 mile walk and Tiger would come along. He would occasionally climb a tree. I would stop and wait for him to come back down and continue our walk. He was the best cat ever. I miss him.. I'm crying now.

12. Dog and cat...
The dog's name was Whitey because, well you can figure it out. The cat was a Siamese named Hot Dog after Dennis the Menace's cat. I was either four or five years old.

13. Buttons, a very large orange tabby
My grandfather brought him to my mom when I was pretty small, we had him until I was about 5 or so. He was a big boy.

I remember my mom telling me how sweet it was that Grandaddy brought him to her because he really didn't like cats, but he knew she did.

The next pet I remember was a chihuahua we got when I was about 8 and we had him until I was almost out of college.

15. Queen Cleopatra, a misguided teenager and booifoh wyoudcat.
Liz Taylor played the queen and my mother said they both had about the same morals. Black with no white above her mouth, white and no black under her mouth forming a perfect white arrow on her jet black white-mitted frame. Green eyes. A beautiful wildcat. Well, that's what we thought.

We contrived a ruse to get a bowl of milk. Certainly transparent to my mother naive of the lengthy ramification.

She hid her brood in the basement. Mom shut the door. When opened, Queen made a beeline to her kittens. She would carry them by their necks, entertain them with her tail, and trained them with a mouse she brought into the kitchen. Mom was livid.

She lived many happy years. Loved the out-of-doors. Would only jump on my mother's lap. The rest of us had to pick her up to pet her.

I was much older by the time she became sick. Not a dry eye in the house when the vet put her down. And, still not forgotten.

18. Bill the Cat
We never had cats when I was growing up because my mother thought she didn't like them. Then I brought Bill the Cat home from college, and my mother absolutely fell in love with him. After that, my parents were confirmed CAT LOVERS.
