For me, I would move to the UK, Canada, Australia, or France.

I'm getting to be too old to move. But, if I was younger...I definitely would!

What about you?

:D

5. That's a great place to live. I was fortunate enough to have lived there
as a 16-year old dude / surfer. And, I've returned several times since. :-)

Actually, I was conceived at Pearl Harbor (after World War II).

Aloha!

6. California
I'm from the south so California has always been talked about like it is a foreign country and it looks like a great place to me. Haha. Sincerely, if I could afford it, I would.

Otherwise, England seems halfway okay or where is that place where drugs are legal? Is it Holland or Switzerland or where? Whichever one has legalized drugs. That is the one.

27. I dunno-- I pay $750 a month, but I've got such a sweet deal...
...that I can't motivate myself to buy a house. Depends on what you want. I live in a great two bedroom house, built from virgin redwood in 1904, in a quiet little town about eight miles from the Pacific coast, way up behind the redwood curtain. You can find rents that are seriously good deals, and you can find outrageous rip offs, and everything in between.

Find yourself a Rand-MacNally atlas of the U.S. Flip back and forth between anywhere on the east coast and Northern California. You'll know whether it's right for you. I wouldn't live anywhere else, and I've lived in or visited much of the U.S.

Is that then you become subject to American foreign policy.

Think about it.

33. Just that Schimpanski thinks he has a free hand . . .
to do whatever he wants overseas. The "War on Terror" is a pretext for the most radical acts on any country he targets. Carpet bombing downtown Damascus? Well, they had it coming. Nukes over Tehran? Sure! Or, closer to my heart, is Romania feeling its oats and messing with business deals cut with American firms? Maybe we need a few aircraft carriers relocated to the Black Sea for a little demonstration of our will. Etc., etc.

In the US proper, the constraints on such activities are substantial. (I don't think he's going to nuke San Francisco, as much as he'd like to). Right now he has to round us up one by one as enemy combatants. No fun if you get fingered, but not the same thing as getting a Tomahawk in your back yard.

61. Unfortunately, the Bush foreign policy extends past the borders . . .
Of the US. Tomahawk missles don't give jack about national boundaries, and neither does Schimpanski.

My point was that now you'll be in the category of "furriner" -- or at least in a country of furriners -- about which Bush might think he has to "do something."

He might decide that France isn't "with us," and so must be "agin us."

11. Loaded question!
:D But I guess if we are talking about perfect conditions, like, I'll be able to work, and I can come back if I want, etc., then France or Canada.

I've never been to Egypt or Sri Lanka, but I've had friends from those countries (well, okay, I've had friends from many countries, but I'm thinking of people in particular), and I've always wondered if there is something about those societies which made my friends so likable. It would be fun to find out. Though I'm aware that they are probably more closed societies than I'm accustomed to, but again, we're talking perfect conditions.

38. I have had job opportunities, relatives to stay with
until housing was found, daycare set up, etc. Then I have to go in front of the judge (child custody). I have been in front of one three times now and all three times I have been turned down. Why? Because the sperm donor might want to have a relationship with his daughter sometime in the future (it hasn't happened yet).
Sometimes, I really hate Missouri!

no matter where I go, there will still be people that I disagree with. At least in a blue state, I can be around a majority of people who agree with me, for a change!
I don't know-I think that small town life gets me down sometimes. But the opportunities in the larger towns around here are no better.

Someday, I think that MO will change back. They are really angry with the new gov and many are now angry with pres. Once it changes, things will be much better for me.

never changes unfortunately. I agree with you about the difference in having the majority on the same page with you. It makes sense. You could be the square peg in a 60/40 situation or the round peg in a 60/40 situation and it would be an entirely different ball game. Where I live it is like 90/10 and I'm the squarest peg of the 10%. Out of the 10%, who claim to be liberal, I'm it a lot of the time.
