Screw it, I've decided not to go to bed at all. |
|
It's almost 4:30 am. Forget it. If I go to sleep now, I'll be asleep all morning and into the afternoon. But if I can stay up, I'll just take a nap after lunch.
Which....dammit....means I'll be up late AGAIN. I've got to break this cycle.
I never had insomnia when I was younger....

7. Mostly I really love getting older |
|
(I'm only 34 and can't wait for 40!!!!)
But IF this is just a natural consequence of getting older, I don't like it.
Also, I noticed the other day my skin's not as taut as it used to be.

3. I never had it till I got divorced. |

But I was always a night owl at heart. Problem is, I can't even sleep in the day now most of the time...not longer than 3-4 hours anyway.

I have been on a REAL late night kick since I have had no job (21 months). I have always been a late night person. But this is nuts! BTW, I see you are CST too. Just more we have in common!

You got $$$ coming in. I am just a big slug! I try so hard, but it has been really hard and I have a damn master's and 10 years experience! I also speak other languages and I can't get a damn job that would not require me living at a sub-standard level.
As for this being ri-DICK-ulous....well, dick is always good!

Wanna know what I was told from the last two interviews...other than they had a "little" more experience than me? I was too honest and that intimidated people!!! Now, if you have a horrid dress on, I won't walk up to you and say; "Fuck! That is the ugliest thing I have ever seen!" However, if you ask me, I will be honest and tell you; "I don't like that dress on you." How has it become that honesty, not cruel honesty, has become a NON-desirable trait? I am just sick over it. Thankfully, I have a man that loves me (even if we can't marry) and he is very supportive!

16. Honesty sucks, but it's a fault of mine. |
|
Too bad I wasn't raised to where I can't be less than honest. Yeah, sometimes it hurts, but I'm not you're friend if I lie to you.
If you don't wanna know the truth, then please don't ask the question.

Before I became another job statistic last Oct. I at least could get to bed by 2am or so and grab my winks before dragging off to work in the morning. Now...it's like "why bother?"

It is so bad. I swear if I hear another person say the right job is "right around the corner" I am going to shove them "right into the street!" I have sleeping problems anyway, but this has not helped.
BTW...I love hamsters!!!!

17. My biggest problem is lack of sheepskin... |
|
...or maybe not?
I'm 100% self taught over the years and likewise, years of experience to back up the hard earned knowledge. Know a lot more than the majority of the "papered idiots" out there. Does "certification" really mean much more than you're good at taking tests anyway?
Still seems I'm in no worse shape than many who spent a lot more than myself on becoming educated in today's market.

18. I don't mean to be the bearer of bad news, sweetie -- but |

playing on the computer is probably contributing to your insomnia. It's mentally stimulating, as is watching television. I'm sorry that you are having trouble sleeping, though. I go through the same thing and it stinks to have to function on just a few hours sleep a night.

19. For a while I wondered if the chicken or the egg came first. |
|
Because my insomnia started before I would hit the computer at night. As in, I got on it because I couldn't sleep. Then I wondered how much it was contributing.
Long way of saying, point taken.

Edited on Sat Feb-26-05 11:04 AM by bettyellen
it's helped me- it takes a couple hours and the pills smell like feet, but...... my friend recommends it's with melatonin, but it seems to work fine alone for me. i didn't feel so hot and sacked out early. i just slept 10 1/2 hours. that was real good. i used to have insomnia all the time in college, went 3 12/ days once w/out sleep.

22. I'd talk to your doctor. |
|

There are meds that can be given-not talking about Ambien or Sonata. Trazodone can be taken on a PRN basis. My daughter takes it many nights for that problem.
I'm assuming you're getting regular physical exercise. Milk and carbohydrates before bed help me. And logging off DU at a reasonable hour does too. :)
