My, guaranteed-to-be-true, story of Extra Terrestrial contact (w/ pics)
Good evening, the story you are about to hear is guaranteed to be true...

When I was ten, shortly after the movie E.T. came out my mother found a newspaper article about how the movie was so popular that E.T., a fictional character, was receiving fan mail. So just for fun, I wrote a fan letter to E.T. and drew a few picture. My mother found the address of Universal Studios and mailed it off for me.

I was kind of hoping they would send me back a picture for all my efforts, but weeks went on and nothing! (Hollywood bastards!)

But then a couple months later, we get a phone call one evening. It seems a publishing house was putting together a book of fan letters to ET and wanted to use MY letter. Needless to say we were quite surprised.

Not only did I receive a free copy of the book but a excerpt from my letter also appeared a People magazine article the same time the book was released...

Here's what I had to say to ET...

E.T. himself never personally replied to me, but a friend of his did...

The book is now one of those will-not-sell-for-any-reason family heirlooms...

So that's my story of my brush with a being from another world and I'm sticking to it...I hope you all enjoyed it...:hi:

10. There's actually a squeal to my story...
About ten years later they were going to do a segment on the book after a tenth anniversary showing of the movie on TV and they asked me to be in it.

I declined my chance to be on TV because I was going through my angry "I'm an artist now I don't need that shit" phase...

5. Somehow I was expecting
a confession about a short eerie tune in your head and a strange compulsion to sculpt a butte in Montana from...well...long grain rice.

6. Awesome
I was best friends with one of the stunt kids that worked on E.T. back in the 1980's. His name appears in the credits and everything, and he had lots of pictures with him and Steven Speilberg while he was in costume. He was an orange county BMX rider and sadly, died in the 90's from AIDS.

He did the bike stunts for Elliott's older brother during the bike chase scenes, dressed in a grey hooded sweatshirt. Still, cool that your letter was published and Steve was nice enough to personalize your copy for you!

12. Now that would be cool!
In regards to my story, they did send me a Photostat of the original letter I wrote, complete with drawings. It's around the house some where, tho I'm not going to look for it today...
