Barbara Robinette Moss...author... anyone read her books?
Change Me Into Zeus's Daughter and
Fierce

She is from Alabama, and grew up dirt poor near Anniston. These two books are essays/short stories about her life.

Her father was a an abusive alcoholic; there were eight children in this family. Her story is inspiring, funny, sad and enraging all at once.

She was the speaker at our church's women's day retreat today, and after I heard about 5 minutes of her reading from one of the books, I knew I wasn't going home without them. I had hesitated to buy the books in advance, due to the subject matter; I seriously thought they would depress me. However, after meeting her and hearing her I decided the exact opposite was true.

Boy was she neat.

Highly recommend these books.
