"In The Heat of the Night" on Public Television tonight....one of
my favorite of all time movies.

best line :

Rod Steiger as the chief of police:

" I have a motive which is money and a body which is DEAD"

I love that movie.

3. I can't remember
this well but there was a scene where an older white man slaps Sidney Portier (sp?) and he slaps him back and the white man, all unbelieving a black man would dare slap him back looks at Rod Steiger and says "What are you going to do about that?" And Rod thinks about it and says "I don't know."
I'm probably not remembering it exactly, but it was a very powerful scene.
