I saw the SNL rerun for the first time tonight |
|
Besides the fact that it was hosted by that annoying asshat from Sideways, it was a really funny episode. I loved the Barbara Boxer spoof they did with the charts and baloney. Did anyone else watch that tonight?

2. I saw it when it was a new ep |
|
The Barbara Boxer stuff was pretty funny, but SNL is on a down-slope this year. Hopefully they'll get funnier again. But I guess downright subversion would be too much to hope for these days. Ah, wasn't the past wonderful, and I didn't even know it at the time. Sigh.

3. Everyone says the new SNL sucks, every season |
|
SNL is only good two seasons later, according to most people. With the exception of last week, the ones I've seen in the last few months were good, I thought.

It really goes in a cycle.
First five years were great. Then it sucked. Till Billy Crystal and Eddie Murphy showed up.
Then it sucked.
Until Dana Carvey and the gang showed up.
Then it sucked until... I can't remember all the cast changes. But it goes in cycles of funniness. But the true subversion of the original five seasons has never been matched, and I'm afraid it never will... the brave new world in which we live.

4. Don't call Paul Giamatti an "annoying asshat" |
|

He's a damn good actor.
Disclaimer: He is an a alum of my college (Bowdoin), and I used to hang out with his brother Marcus, who is also an actor. FYI, he's the son of Bart Giamatti, who was president of Yale and Commissioner of Baseball. Trust me, these folks are DUer types.
