What is your favorite vampire movie?
Best one for me is Roman Polanski's "Fearless Vampire Killers."

A wonderfully retro vampire period piece... Very campy.

Stars Sharon Tate before the Manson thing, which kinda adds to the whole surreal experience.

4. "Nosferatu" Dir. FW Murnau (pics b/w)
German Expressionist cinema captured and warned of the coming of fascism. These films are just amazing and worth seeing. Nosferatu was the essence of Hitler, a vermin dominating all he encountered. The hypnotized Cesare (Hitler) in The Cabinet is hypnotized and controlled by Dr. Caligari (the occultists behind Hitler) to commit murder. Peter Lori, the serial killer in M, is the essence of the murderous perverts in the SS. I keep thinking, which of our film makers is anticipating the next monster on our horizon.

Nosferatu, FW Murnau

The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari

7. good picks
Amazing how much German Expressionism influenced later genres. The films are visually powerful & rich in technique.

They also dig into some of Freud's concepts, specifically themes of repression & "the other."

Watching some of those films is a healthy dose of psychoanalysis. You have to dig a bit ;)

6. Dracula 2000, besides...
The ending of the movie ought screw with extreme Christian fanatics minds. What with Judas being a vampire and all. hehe

pretty funny :P

It has really great sets too. Some of those moonlit snow scenes blow my mind.

Although a "period piece," it reeks of the late 60's... that's the beauty of it.

14. I agree 100%---I think it's the best, and ...
Salma Hayek's dance scene is the best ever put on film.
That scene alone makes the film worthwhile.
