How about a Boston DUer gathering on Saturday, March 19th? |
|
some locals can't make it to the April 23rd gathering, so how about one in mid-March?
That's if we don't get another storm that day. x(
Maybe we could meet somewhere other than the People's Republik. any suggestions?

Was hoping for a suggestion for a sooner date. In as much as I had a blast at the P.R. last spring, would be cool to go to a place with a slightly better offering of wine. That chardonney truly sucked. Woh.
Please don't flame me for my somewhat particular palette.
Whatever you yocals decide, I'm game.

funny story. . .one time many years ago, I went to Lupo's Heartbreak Hotel in Provedencia. I asked the bartendress, "What kind or red wine do you serve?" She held up the gun and said, "I think it might be better on a salad." I laughed and drank club soda for a while. Then the owner showed up and treated me to his private stash. A total old school gent he is.
Too funny I thought. . .better on a salad indeed. Like it was "gun '95 " or something. We can do better I swear.

But we get a week off for Easter late March...the perks of going to a Catholic college  I hope I can go to both meetups- it'll be sweet.

10. When faced with a choice, do both |
|
I'm up for March 19.
Now we gotta pick a place. (I'm still thinking Miracle of Science might be fun, depending on what MIT is doing that weekend.)

of the start of the illegal invasion of Iraq - I know I'll be in DC that day. I agree with the person before me, perhaps do both

18. i specifically remember you because |
|
my one experience in hoboken was parking my car at the train station to take the PATH train into the city to go to the tattoo convention and you told me YOU went to the tattoo convention also. I don't expect to run into people here that would go to that, so I remember you. I happened to be at a friends in the Hudson valley area of new york that is why we ended up parking in Hoboken after going down through New Jersey since my friend lives on the NY/NJ line.

|
that's hilarious. was that the thread where somebpdy asked for directions in nyc and just cut and ran and it turned into ten different conversations about people coming to nyc? i guess there ought to be a little meetup in ny later that day. maybe someones already planning one, ya think?

I'll probably be working the night before (until 7am that day), so I may be late so I can sleep a little, but it might be fun.

think of a place or we'll just go for either Squeesh's or Kath's suggestion. . .downtown. . . Faneuil hall. . .where oh where. . .?
Anyone else got a suggestion? There must be some or I'll just have to suggest an old and snotty place to disrupt. Lord knows there are plenty of those in Beantown.
Things have changed so-o-o much since it used to be my haunt that I'm really clueless. There used to be a great place that began with an "S". . .oh never mind.
Someone else be bossy. I truly suck at it.
"Where do I go. . .what do I do. . .?"

I need to find out if Silvertone is open during the day. They have decent wines, and the atmosphere is fun.

30. Spring can't come too soon for me. |
|
There's a scheduling issue. The 2nd anniversary of Spurious George's pre-emptive invasion of Iraq is March 19. I have here a document that says that the demonstration that day will be in NYC, in Central Park (which will have been cleared of gates by then), whereas there will be a demonstration on Sunday the 20th at 1:00 PM on Boston Common. I'm up for both the Sunday demo and the get-together, which are all easy for me because I live close by, but I wonder whether the rest of you-- especially the Connecticut and Rhode Island DUers-- would prefer to combine the get-together with the demo on Sunday.
Also I noticed the post about Drinking Liberally (which I'd heard of but not pursued, because the only place I'd heard of it before was on the Eschaton blog, and in context it looked like a specifically Philadelphia event), so I hope to check that out soon.
