The Funk Brothers are coming to Seattle! |
|
Seattle DUers and fans of classic Motown - the surviving members of the Funk Brothers are going to be in town at the Moore Theatre on December 5. Tickets go on sale on October 18, I think, but can be pre-ordered now by using the password "MOTOWN."
These guys are phenomenal. Anyone who's seen the documentary Standing in the Shadows of Motown - the greatest documentary of last year, barring perhaps only Bowling for Columbine - can attest to that. In addition, they will have "surprise guest vocalists" which have included Joan Osbourne, Bootsy Collins, Ben Harper, Gerald Levert, and many others.
I'm seriously psyched! I was so disappointed last year that they didn't make Seattle on their little mini-tour...I would have driven to Oakland to see them there, but heard about it too late, so I wanted to put the word out for any fans of the Motown sound who might be able to come to Seattle. Let's support these guys while some of them are still with us.

Luckily, my husband's nephew is a member of the Experience Music Project, and he emailed us about the pre-sale. Otherwise, who knows if we'd have heard about this. The Funk Brothers are still left standing in the shadows all too often.
