Anyone work with Pinnacle Studio (any versions)
My question is this: When I save my stuff to an AVI or MPEG file, it saves it fine as "filename.avi" or "filename.MPG". However, along with each of these it also saves "filename.scn". The first two show as Windows Media Player icons or thumbnails. The .scn files save with the windows icon which indicates the computer doesn't recognize their type and you have to specify which application to open them with.

Do I need these files? What happens if I delete or move them? They don't take up much space but they are annoying and cumbersome when trying to sort through hundreds of files so it would be great if they were just useless junk that I could get rid of.

Any advice?

Thanks in advance.

1. Can't answer your question, but...
Can Pinnacle covert your AVI flies into gif files? I'm looking for the best (simplest) file converter software.

2. Aren't .gif files still shots?
Don't know to tell you the truth. I'm using it to convert vhs videos to digital files and then possibly to dvd.

3. Animated gif files
When I save animated gif files people post on DU, there's no problem.

But the poster has somehow saved these files as animated gif files before they've posted them here.

Does that make sense?

There's a lot of software out there to convert files, but I'm too stupid to know which software to buy.

I imagine it is like a .psd file in Photoshop. That file holds the info about layering, ect....

6. What do you mean a test file?
What happens if I delete them?

Actually I'm more thinking of if I give a disc or hard drive of mpegs to my family of these do I need to clutter it up with these.scn files or can I just give them the mpegs.

7. I'm thinking...
Grab a small video clip and do what you do with that program and save it. And then delete the extra file. Does the .mpeg still play on your computer after deleting the extra file? If the answer is yes you can pass around just the .mpeg.
