Carnivale Is Finally Coming Into Its Own |
|
I can't wait to see how this series ends now. This season is head and shoulders above last year.
We're finally seeing all the pieces of the puzzle come into place.
"Management" was Jesus. Or a Jesus-like character. The preacher is his son - and he's the Antichrist.
The kid is the new Jesus.
The kid killed Management, assumed his powers, and now understands that he has to go destroy the preacher.
I just don't get who Skudder is. I know he's the kid's father, but his back story confuses me.
Anyone else really excited about this season of Carnivale? At least we're going to get a real conclusion and not strung along for four or five years waiting for it to end.
I am so going to OWN this series when it comes out on DVD.

OK, first you know that Ben is the "good guy" and Justin the "bad guy". Also known as the Child of Light and the Child of Darkness.
In the previous generation, Scudder was the "bad guy" and Management was the "good guy."
The thing is, the bad/good guys don't HAVE to be bad/good. They have free will - they can choose to be either. Scudder chose NOT to be "bad" - he just wanted to try and live a normal life. But Management knew that would upset the balance. And it did, causing the new "bad guy" (Justin) to have the potential to destroy the world.
This show ROCKS and this season is edge-of-your-seat excitement. I sure hope they bring it back for one more year!

I believe Skudder was supposed to be an avatar as management was but refused the calling. I think Justin is going to try to use him against Ben, who is now the avatar, to fulfill his destiny. His life in exchange for letting him become what he is destined to become. I don't think it will work. I'm concerned for Sophie now that she is Justin's maid. You saw what he did to the others. Whatever happens, it's going to be good. Fantastic show, almost every HBO show is.

5. Sophie is one strong lady. |
|
And Mama is still around, too. I feel sorry for Bro Justin if he messes with her.
Agreed that it's nice to see the show get a good focus. It sort of reminds me of the storyline of B5 where it *seemed* like the Vorlon were the good guys and the Shadows the bad, but in the end, both were equally wicked.
And that sex between Ben and Sophie wasn't just for tittilation -- it's going to play into the final confrontation somehow.

9. Yeah, she saw something when reading Ben's cards. |
|
So I really don't think she will come out of it bad. Her supernatural power is serving her in some way here. Maybe when reading the cards she saw that she could place herself in a position to help Ben and perhaps she will ultimately take out The Usher/Justin. We'll just have to see.

6. Ben isn't really "Jesus" because....... |
|
...Jesus had powers within himself to heal and other things. Whenever Ben does something, it's always a *transfer* of life force. That scene where he healed Scudder and just about killed the whole town was amazing -- it showed just how far gone Scudder was. His ruined physical appearance was merely a reflection of his spiritual and mental state.
Wouldn't it be a classic soap-opera ending if Justin killed Sophie and then Ben restored her life by taking it from Justin? :) Seriously, I'm sure the producers wouldn't resort to such a cheap stunt...

7. BTW, didn't they say that "Management" was.... |
|
...Justin/Alexi's father? If that's the case, he certainly wouldn't have been a Jesus figure, but rather just a powerful spiritual entity.
If this is all supposed to be Revelation, there is the Beast and the False Prophet. Maybe he was the Beast instead...
And it says in the bible that all the world would be deceived by the false prophet, and Justin is certainly striving for worldly power.
It's hard to carry this analogy too far, but just a couple ideas.

8. Don't know about specific biblical figures |
|
but I think it's all about angels v. demons.
Glad it started to head someplace. It was starting to drag.
