2. I've got a goatee
Mostly, it's two things. 1) Hair catches dirt and oil more easily, resulting in more zits. 2) Tendency to forget to wash the part under your beard when you've just started growing it.

6. Sounds like you are getting ingrown hairs
Yes, I've had that happen when I have grown a beard. There are some good treatments for it, in the shaving section of drug stores, most of them marketed to African-American men.

12. mine's a rebellion
it still itches. I resisted growing one because I hate fads, and the goatee thing was/is everywhere. But I like the salt and pepper thing I have now. Bet more folks will start calling me sir instead of just dude.

Moisturize! It would seem contradictory, but the oils need to escape.

18. I've always hated fads, too
I have no desire to look like everyone else. I have a shaved head, but it was much more fun before it became so popular (I've been shaving it myself for abour 8 years now).

I had the goatee for awhile, too, but there are LOTS of shaved heads/goatees. I like the look but wanted to try something different.

I grow a crappy beard, so that was out. Then I saw Deadwood on HBO (the main charactor is really hot) and thought I'd try the chin beard/soul patch and mustache look. I like it and you don't see a lot of guys with this look (yet, anyways).

20. I like anything that makes folks uncomfortable these days
I'd do the whole face thing, but mine's spotty as well. I just hate shaving.

Johnny Depp had a Deadwood thing going on at the Academy Awards that looked pretty funky.

13. I Recommend a Soft-Bristled Brush
Go over your face daily like you're combing down Seabiscuit - except go against the grain. It helps prevent ingrown hairs.
