Homeless kids...
I heard today that we (Albuquerque) have 3,000 homeless children in our public schools. Pretty sad... :(

How bad is the homeless situation in your city?

1. In Denver, evictions are up 55% since 2000
as of December 2004, according to the Denver Post. In nearby Douglas County, evictions are up 400% in tht time. Colorado Coalition for the Homeless said the metro area's indigent population swelled in the last year to 11,000! And 20,000 people throughout the state called United Way needing help with rent. So it doesn't look good here, either. :(

2. I honestly don't know
and that really bothers me. I don't live in a large city (the entire county was just under 200,000 people at the last census), but I know there are homeless here -- I just don't know how many.
