We're having oven-roasted beef sirloin tips, mashed potatoes and gravy, red-cabbage slaw, pineapple/mandarin orange salad and hard rolls. We still have custard pie left from last night for dessert.

28. I've always wanted to try the wine with those Ralph Steadman labels- |
|
but they're so damned expensive! I wish I could remember the name. When I think of "Fear and Loathing" and "The Curse of Lono", I wonder what kind of stuff this master of the arts would like. I haven't tried Yellow Tail. I drink Alice White! Cheap, baby!!!

I don't eat red meat so that limits things seeing as ground beef is so versatile and ground turkey is only sustitutable in certain contexts...I'm a sucker for fresh fruit and veggies which really are expensive...I mean broccoli is like almost $3 for a nice size bunch! I also don't have the time budget to go to several stores. They're all like at least 7 miles from my apartment and taking groceries on the bus sux...my only leisure activity this semester is DU!!!

It's easier for me because I have 6-7 places I can go to within 2 miles from my apt, and I guess I'm lucky I have cheap produce (navel oranges were 8 pounds for a dollar last week at Henry's marketplace :9)

If you go to Safeway early in the day, you can buy some meats cheaper. There is nothing wrong with the meat, sell by date okay except that is yesterday's cut. I've bought a $6.00 steak for $3.00, lamb chop for a $1.50. and a pound of hamburger for half price. Go to the dollar store, buy canned potatoes and canned veggies 2 for a dollar. You can also buy canned goods cheaper at Big Lots.

46. I season them inside and out with |
|
spices (salt, pepper, whatever you like). I use "Adobo" seaoning because it has everything in it already. I let mine sit overnight or at least a few hours. When ready to cook I preheat oven to 325 degrees. I put hens on roasting rack and put some melted butter on top. I cook for 60-90 minutes depending on how big the hens are. I do two at a time since there are two of us. After about 1 hour I baste for the last half hour. Sometimes I rotisserie them and they come out good that way too. That takes less time. About 46-5-60 minutes. Its really simple.

not expensive as a pot goes a long way and yet nutritional. If I get tired of the soup I freeze it in small containers for a later time when I don't have a lot of money.

We've pretty much decided to go out or get takeout. My MIL is coming in tonight just after supper time, so we'll need to go to the airport, and I don't want to mess with cleaning up from supper.
