My cat just scratched my son. |

He called her a "little Nazi." LOL! Don't know why I found that so funny. :P

My son gets very upset (he's only 2) when one of the cats scratches him. He totally takes it personally. It's kinda funny, and he always deserves it.

3. I'm not trying to sound bossy but I would watch those cats scratching |
|
your kids. When my daughter was about 11 yrs old she was put into the hospital for about a week with cat scratch fever (the gland under her tongue swolled up and she couldn't eat and ran a high fever) Then when my grand daughter (my daughter's child) was 4 yrs old a cat scratched her finger. Her finger swolled up huge and she had to be put on antibotics and had to have physical therapy on that finger for about a month because it stiffened up on her. So you guys please watch the cats with the children Gayle

Thanks for the warning. Usually the scratches are not very bad - they seldom break the skin, and all three cats are indoor cats and I clip their claws often (though not often enough).
Anyway, thank's for the tip. I'll be sure to watch it and make sure any cuts get properly tended!

5. There's a product called "softclaws" |
|
or is it "softpaws"? Anyway, they are plastic claw covers that either you or a vet can apply to your cat's claws to avoid any nasty scratches (not recommended for outdoor cats, though).

17. It's like glue on fake nails for cats |
|
they're soft plastic nail sheaths, mostly meant for keeping the furniture safe from kitty (pretty popular now, too. Someone had a great idea-hope they got a patent)!

When I had a cat, always an indoor cat too, I invited friends over for dinner. They brought their two devious sons who teased my cat, well, the cat scratched one of the boys, The doctor and the hospital called me on this. The thing was our cat did not break the skin.... there was all kinds of hoopla.

8. I've had that and it hurts like heck, dangerous, too. |
|
I was grown when I got it, though. The glands in my groin swelled up so badly I could hardly walk.

2. That kid got what he deserves |
|
Cats are far smarter than we sometimes give'em credit for.
Cats hate being called names as much as we do. So kitty did the only thing she knew how after she was attacked: scratch.

7. What did I say that made you assume my son "attacked" my cat? |
|
He didn't attack her. She's in heat and acting a little erratic. I was sitting here watching.
Please don't make such assumptions about my kid.

11. Please don't take offense-- |
|
cats are a very defensive animal. Read my recent post I really believe it is not the kid or the cat. All depends on the situation.
If a cat is in heat, stay away, if kids likes to tease adults need to talk.

Once my dad was just waking up, only to find the cat sitting near his head, my father hadn't even moved an inch and the cat just SWIPED at his FACE and ran off!

He doesn't call her names. I do that. I call her PV, for Piss and Vinegar, because that's what she's full of.

But she's a little antsy with this being heat-time. She ran across the den yesterday, went airborne about ten feet from me, and landed on my chest, sinking her claws into my skin. I couldn't help but laugh, though, because the image of an airborne cat with paws splayed out, flying through the air toward my head, well....it was funny.

Unless she's a purebred that you breed, please get her fixed as soon as she's out of heat.. We almost lost our sweet Miss Kitty from an internal infection that females sometimes get when they go into heat and are not bred.. She kept on ovulating, and ended up with peritonitis. Surgery saved her, but the vet said female cats should be spayed or they could egt this.. I forget the name of the disease, but it came on fast and before we knew anything was wrong with her, she was practically unconscious, and almost died.. She was only a few years old at the time.
