My laptop died AGAIN after the motherboard was replaced!!
:grr:

Here's the original thread:

A week ago, a technician replaced the motherboard on my work laptop after it wouldn't power on at all. He gave me a new power supply and new batteries, and it was working fine this week.

Yesterday afternoon it died AGAIN!!! Won't turn on. The little light on the power supply is unlit.

Can anyone suggest a website that has good tech info? Could it be a circuit since the motherboard solved the problem the first time? I had just started to back stuff up on CDs and would be bummed if I lost everything.

Join the message boards and find the laptop section. They are extremely helpful there and very knowledgeable.

6. Do you have an extended warranty with it.
I hate Dells, most of them now have 90- day warranties and calling them for service boils my blood. I switched to Apple and never looked back, besides my Powerbook hasn't needed repairs going on 3 years now!

7. I have a service contract through work: M-F 9-5
a technician actually visited my work to replace the motherboard, so I guess I'll wait until Monday.

8. I have a Toshiba laptop, I lost the hard drive, they recalled ...
one of the modules and an additional circuit board, one of the USB ports doesn't work, the keys are falling off ... the thing is only two years old. My previous Toshiba laptop ... I lost the hard drive, too and the keys were falling off.

There is apparently no quality control when it comes to computers. They figure just churn the things out and if something screws up they'll replace the part on warranty. That's much cheaper than doing quality control. In the meantime, you lose data, docs and you have to reload all your apps.

Yeah, I back up the important stuff but it's still a major big-time bummer.

9. I just started to back everything up, so I hope I didn't lose anything
there is no quality control . A $2000 machine and you have to replace it every two years. :wtf:
