Ex-Korn Guitarist Baptized in Jordan River

03/05/2005 3:54 PM, AP

Former Korn guitarist Brian "Head" Welch was baptized Saturday in the Jordan River, just weeks after quitting his band, drug habits and rock-and-roll lifestyle for religion.

Welch, a founding member of the multi-platinum band, and about 20 other white-robed Christian pilgrims from a Bakersfield, Calif., church were immersed by their pastor, Ron Vietti.

Welch said the ritual baptism had washed away his anger. "You know when you get angry and it builds up? I felt like hurting someone before, now I feel like hugging people," he said.

Vietti said Welch — who has "Jesus" tattooed across his knuckles and "Matthew 11:28," tattooed prominently across his neck — is already attracting a new group of young people to the message of Christianity.

1. Feel like hugging people, do ya?
Well the second he starts cheering for W and W's gang of thieves and liars, he'll just be another hypocrite, wanting to hug all the Christian white people while propping up a "moral Christian" administration which is killing all the brown non-Christians! :grr:

3. I know, its just placebo is worried that he may become like some

God if you find Jesus and stuff, great for you but dont make a big big deal of it and dont try to be a right wing shill because it makes you look more like a born again asshole than born again christian.

12. Wow! Very cool.
Though I say "very cool" with the same sense of fear as another poster, worried that this might mean he's turned into a religious rightwinger Shrub worshiping freak, as opposed to a legitimate Christian.

18. Seems to have gone fanatic.....
I will be curious to see how his new faith guides him. Korn, rock music bad, anger bad, drugs bad, hatred of homosexuals good, war on Iraq good, condemnation against anyone who is not white christian american good. I agree, only conjecture, he has not offered any political or social insights, but give it time.

Hallelujah, I do believe he is saved. Anyway, I will stick with the remaining members of Korn. Brian "head" seems to have lost his.

19. If people like this love God,
why don't they become Methodists or Lutherans or Episcopalians?
Why is it always fundamentalism? There's got to be some underground army just trolling for people like this to convert for publicity's sake. As another poster said he's trading one addiction for another.
