1. I still working on where to immigrate because of Bush. With him and
his endless wars, there will be no overpopulation issue.

2. Time Travel
I'd like to go back to say..... the 1880s and see how bad it really was working on coasting schooners on the eastern seaboard, or take up piloting on the Mississippi River.

4. In this lifetime, they will build up first
At least if the world becomes a more cooperative place. We could really support a lot more people with proper land use and construction. As I mentioned with the tall building thread, building up makes environmental and economic sense. To get this to work quicker, this could be regulated by building codes. Buildings couldn't cover more than so many square feet out (but could be built to the sky) unless there was a good reason, like heavy equipment or vibrations from manufacturing. No more single story big box stores or insurance companies housed in large single or two story buildings. While this could be done from pure economics, like it seems to occurr in large urban centers, I think that there would have to be some regulations to prevent the cost of food and manufactured necessities from getting too expensive. Crops need land to grow. Many things can't be manufactured in multiple story buildings without the buildings falling apart. With proper planning, automobile travel would be less necessary too if stores and places of work were located closer to our homes. Efficent public transportation would help with that too.
