He's my favorite artist.
Unlike a lot of Crumb fans though, I think he did his best work AFTER Zap Comix and in the early 70's. In particular, I'm thinking of a strip-series entitled "Fuzzy the Bunny in Nut Factory Blues," about going to visit his brother Charles in a mental institution....astounding stuff, and so honest and human that it seems removed to the realm of the miraculous.
And if only for introducing Harvey Pekar to the mainstream, Crumb deserves a permanent piggy back ride.

I agree with RKZ. Crumb's work only gets better the older he gets. My favorites titles are Hup! and Self-Loathing Comics, both released in the last ten years if memory serves. And I loved every issue of Weirdo. I appreciate Robert Crumb as an artist, and as a fucked-up guy willing to strip himself to the bone and share his fucked-uppedness.
