Complications With My Mom's Surgery

My mom had kidney surgery last week. (Microsurgery using a lapyroscope.)

While the docs are convinced this repair will correct the kidney dysfunction, they wouldn't let her go home yet, because her platelet content is so low that she won't stop blood seepage and now there's an infection and her temp is up.

I know this is a downer and nobody should have to care. I'm just venting a bit. I just lost my dad 4 years ago, and i am getting SO TIRED OF SPENDING HOURS AND HOURS IN THE HOSPITAL! Stress and MS don't go well together!!!

There! I feel better now.

I may not "have to" care, but I DO care. Dealing with ill parents is very difficult. My oldest sister has been the one in my family being at the hospital for both my mom and dad numerous times in the past couple years. I'm 700+ miles away, and not in the financial position to travel "home" to be there. My other sister also lives a fair distance away, and is unable to be there for her own reasons. I know I truly appreciate everything my oldest sister does to support and care for my parents, and I know my parents appreciate her as well.

Remember to take care of yourself too.

15. Kick & Update

Well, my mom's fever dropped and they think they have the infection under control, so they released her about 8:30 this morning. She gets to go with my sister to pick up the doggie from the kennel and finally sit in her own chair and watch her own TV.

Thanks to all who replied yesterday when the stress was getting me down.
