Hypothetical situation involving me and a cute cashier - advice needed
OK, I lied. It's not hypothetical. There is a cute cashier at a supermarket near me and she's really nice and I would love to ask her out. But it's weird! You can't really strike up that kind of a conversation with a cashier.

And besides that, she's a girl and I'm a girl and my gaydar is not working properly. She's one of those who could be straight or not! She's right down the middle!

What should I do? Forget it and act my age? Or what?

P.S. Please ignore the picture in my sig file when thinking about this.

1. depends- whats your age and hers?
you also might just ask a few insightful questions or make comments which would elicit some insight to her preferences.

9. There are some good responses in this thread. I'd consider some of them

seriously. Do you like Ellen DeGeneres is good but not too subtle unless it is worked into the conversation seemlessly. Is there a coffee shop or ice cream parlor nearby? Gp there around lunchtime or dinnertime and ask her if she'd like to enjoy a coffee or something. You could do it under the guise of being interested in asking her about her job and potential interest in pursuing a job there yourself or for a "friend".

Go for it!

on edit: you could ask her if she's ever eaten at the Y and check her response.

12. You're right - I could ask her if she's eaten at the...
Y and if she punches me in the nose, she's a lesbian.

:-)

Look her passionately in the eyes
then lean over, slowly, and kiss her--KISS HER! You might never get another chance! KISS HER!

3. Strike up a conversation when in the checkout line--
How you doing? Have any plans for the weekend?
Slowly escalate the conversations.

4. Have your sig pic printed on a T-shirt, and wear it to the store.
fill your basket with nothing but strawberry and chocolate syrup and some bananas and 50 gallons of ice-cream.

Aske her if she'd care to join you in a banana split, and if she says yes, give her directions to your bathtub.

11. It's one of things that sucks the most about being gay...
straight people don't sit around wondering if the person they want to ask out is gay. 9 out of 10 times they aren't.

10. Bring up a movie you want to see or a restaurant you want to try,
if she seems interested ask if she wants to go with you.
Keep it light & see where it goes.
Good luck!

15. Hmmm - that's a dilemma
I guess you could just say - "Hey - I really enjoy your sense of humor (or whatever it is that attracts you to her). Would you like to go out for coffee sometime? My treat?"

I think that would make your intentions clear. If she's not gay, wouldn't she at least be flattered? I know I would.

16. I had a woman come onto me at a party once
and even though I'm straight, I was flattered, just like I was when a guy I wasn't interested in asked me out.

Ask her on a date. Just be specific that it's a date - like use the word date - or it could be awkward at the actual date if she thinks it's just a couple of friends hanging out. If she says yes, then yay! If she says no, then at least you know.

Good luck! And let us know what happens!

18. How about this; "Do you date girls?" with a HUGE smile and a lot of
confidence....

and if she says no, tell her she's adorable, and to let you know if she changes her mind...

and if she says yes, then ask her to coffee...

Gosh, wasn't that hard?
