Rural Living and Farming Group--anyone interested? |
|
Would anyone be interested in such a group? It would be different from the outdoors group in that it would be intended as a place where we rural dwellers could discuss topics (and seek and give advice on said topics) that are particular to rural life.
Are any other rural folks interested in such a group? We need to develop a mission statement, but I guess we need to see if there is any interest in such a group before doing so.
Is anyone interested?

3. I'm thinking more along the lines of... |
|
people who raise animals, build barns, attend livestock shows, garden and can their own veggies, and stuff along that line.
But you'd better join! :-) :hi: (How's it going? :-) )

How about you? :hi: I thought, after I posted, that is what you meant. I would love this. Count me in. We have our house plans almost complete, we should start digging in June or July so I am almost ready to live on my farm and start my big garden and indulge my interest in poultry. I can't wait. Nothing is a good as opening up your pantry door and seeing your own canned veggies.

6. I spent the day building a guinea house with my dad today. |
|
Something about working with the wood, with my Dad, just makes the day perfect.
I have 25 guineas in a small cage now. The house/cage we are building is about 20x10, 8' tall. Tomorrow, we just need to add the tin to one side of the sheltered end of the house, and then build roosts and nesting boxes, and we should be able to move the guineas into their new abode tomorrow evening.
Keep me updated on the house-building! When you get settled in, let me know, and I'll send you some fertile guinea and duck eggs--you can set them in an incubator and have the beginning of your own home flock. :-)

7. That is going to be a great |
|
house for them! How fun, with your dad. I know what you mean about building and just working with the land in general, it feels so good. I guess that is why we do what we do. As far as the fertile eggs:yourock: and thanks. :pals:

2. If your interested in subsistance and micro farming and becoming |
|
independent of the "machine" I'm up for it. I live in Maryland but have 40 acres in Arkansas Ozarks. I've been collecting sites with info on getting off the grid and living light on the land. So count me in. Just PM me when you want to get started and we can compile a list of links and info.
