If the south woulda won, we'd had it made
Not the most politically correct lyrics, but I love this song. Especially the part where Bocephus sings: "We'd put Florida on the right track, 'cause we'd take Miami back and throw all them pushers in the slammer."

If the South woulda won, we'd had it made
Hank Williams Jr.

If the south woulda won we woulda had it made.
I'd probably run for president of the southern states.
The day Elvis passed away would be our national holiday.
If the south woulda won we woulda had it made.
I'd make my surpreme court down in Texas and we wouldn't have no killers getting off free.
If they were proven guilty then they would swing quickly,
instead of writin' books and smilin' on T.V.
We'd all learn cajan cookin' in Luiousiana
and I'd put that capital back in Alabama.
We'd put Florida on the right track, 'cause we'd take Miami back
and throw all them pushers in the slammer.

Oh if the south woulda won we woulda had it made.
I'd probably run for president of the southern states.
The day young Skynyrd died, we'd show our southern pride.
If the south woulda won we woulda had it made.
"Play alittle dixieland boys. Ah yes!"

I'd have all the whiskey made in Tennessee
and all the horses raised in those Kentucky hills.
The national treasury would be in Tupilo, Mississippi
and I'd put Hank Williams picture on one hundred dollar bill.
I'd have all the cars made in the Carolina's
and I'd ban all the ones made in China.
I'd have every girl child sent to Georgia to learn to smile
and talk with that southern accent that drives men wild.
I'd have all the fiddles made in Virginia, 'cause they sure can make 'em sound so fine.
I'm going up on Wolverton Mountain and see ole Cliften Clowers and have a sip of his good ole Arkansas wine.

Hey if the south woulda won we'd a had it made.
I'd probably run for president of the southern states.
When Patsy Cline passed away that would be our national holiday.
If the south woulda won we'd a had it made.
Olay he hee hee . I said if the south wouda won we would a had it made!

Might even be better off!

6. And South Florida can succeed from the rest of the state
We'll take Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach and Monroe counties and let them have Disney World.

That song's fantasy was full of revisionist history. :)

30. Excuse me? Four of my ancestors rode with the Texas Confederate Cavalry!
One of them was killed. Does that sound like they were "actually part of the confederacy" or not?

14. interesting song
These are the only lines that actually talk about policy:

"I'd have all the cars made in the Carolina's
and I'd ban all the ones made in China. "

Cause all those people look the same anyway. damn asians

"I'd have every girl child sent to Georgia to learn to smile "

What else should girls know how to do.

"I'd make my supreme court down in Texas and we wouldn't have no killers getting off free.
If they were proven guilty then they would swing quickly,"

Great tune or not these lyrics are sick.

18. where does it say all asians look the same?
It's probably has more to do with keeping jobs in America. And what's wrong with a sweet, Georgia smile? Everybody, men and women, should probably learn how to smile more.

And yes, he believes in the death penalty. I cheered when they killed Ted Bundy. Most people in Florida did.

27. well
how many cars sold in the US are made in China? I'm sure he's refering to japanese cars, but japan maybe didn't sound as good.
There's nothing wrong with a sweet Georgia smile, but he only mentions sending girl children there.

19. I wish the south would secede again.
Edited on Tue Mar-08-05 01:09 PM by GOPBasher
I'm glad we won the civil war so slavery was abolished, but now I'd really like it if the south were its own nation. They can have their fundamentalist Christian theocracy, burn people for picking the wrong religion, do whatever they want. And then we in the free nation could breath easier. It's a nice dream.

28. Jr couldn't carry his daddy's jock strap
That ain't country music, it's 2nd rate rock&roll with a twang. Jimmy Rogers, now that's country music.

However, I have been told that Hank III is the stuff.
