My 3 year old nephew went to the hospital on Monday to have his tonsils and adenoids removed and tubes put in his ears.
Now tonight he's headed back to the emergency room because he's running a fever and is dehydrated.
Needless to say, I'm just terribly worried about him.
So DU parents, please tell me this sort of thing happens all the time and I'm over-reacting.
I'm kind of a wreck tonight. Thanks for listening.

1. It's pretty easy for a kid that age to get dehydrated. |
|
My son's best friend was just in the hospital with dehydration after a bout with the stomach flu. He's fine 3 days later.

8. Yeah, he seems to get dehydrated pretty easily. |
|
I sure am glad he'll be watched by medical professionals tonight.

3. I've known other parents whose kids suffered from.. |
|
Post-op infections like that. Though they were bad for awhile, their kids pulled through and came out really well. I'll say one for your nephew; I'll bet he'll end up coming out of this in good shape, too!:D

I'm sure he'll be okay, but I won't be sleeping tonight.
Prepare for Mojambo to be a lounge fixture...

6. Post-op infections occur frequently - |
|
going back to the hospital is the best - he'll get rehydrated and receive antibiotics if needed. He'll be OK; please try not to worry too much. I know it's hard when they're so little.

7. both of my kids had tubes, etc. |
|
did not have anything removed though. still, it is pretty common.
i think you'll find the child is much more comfortable with the tubes as they ease the pressure that makes it painful. There's probably nothing that makes infants holler more than an ear infection. it's unsettling but it doesn't last too long..

9. Yeah, he really needed to have it done |
|
His speech hasn't come along as well as it should and he doesn't breath real well.
This will be good for him in the long run.
