6. No, just a coined word
or neologism, if you want to get all sesquipedalian about it. Though everybody around here seems to think that euphemism means a big word, actually it is supposed to be a pretty word, usually for an unpretty concept. Jail becomes detention center, prison becomes penitentiary or correctional center, etc. etc. As cacophony is an onomatopoeic term for ugly noise, presumably cacophemism would mean ugly words and thus would be as far from a euphemism as possible. And that's all the vocabulary words I know, so I'll sign off. :)

be the most significant ( and diabolical) example of linguistic mischief in the twentieth century; occuring, as it did, when Wash. decided to gear up for the "nat'l security state" and faced, for the first time, no real significant foreign threats against which the country needed to be " defended".
