SI: Mike Tice, Minnesota Vikings Head coach scalped his own SuperBowl tix

By Don Banks, SI.com

Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Tice acknowledged to NFL security investigators on Tuesday that he scalped part of his personal allotment of 12 tickets to last month's Super Bowl, a violation of league rules that could result in him being fined or otherwise punished by NFL commissioner Paul Tagliabue.

"I probably shouldn't have sold my tickets,'' Tice told SI.com on Thursday. "I made a mistake. I regret it. I'll never do it again. I'm going to be in trouble. I'll probably get slapped with a big fine."

Dont forget what a big Bush supporter Tice was pre-election.

1. I want his fucking ass fired.
Why don't the goddamn rules apply equally to everyone?

2. You are so right.
He should loose his job. He acts like it is no big deal. He is not much of a coach if he is doing things Randy Moss would do.

10. I don't give a fuck it prints from a 1920's style stock ticker.
He should not be doing this shit. It's time to make a goddamn example out of his fucking ass.

3. Seriously people...
Do you think he is the first coach that has ever done this? No...he's just the first to have gotten caught.

Remember Clinton, people. Remember Clinton.

4. Big difference
Bill was per/prosecuted for something that wasn't against the law.

Tice, as I understand it, broke a signed agreement. I also assume there were local laws he broke--unless Jacksonville allows scalping.

5. Not a big difference...
Clinton, as our president, had a duty to lead our nation in a moral and upstanding way. He waned from that with the Lewinsky thing.

Just because Tice did something that every other coach has been doing for years doesn't mean he should be fired. Just as the repubs were doing with Clinton, the NFL will try to make an example out of Tice.

6. I dunno
An extramarital affair is nothing new in DC. It's freakin' currency. And he never signed an agreement not to have one.

You're right in that Tice will likely be made an example for something a lot of coaches and players do, but it's specifically in writing.

Besides, Minny could do better, I think. But I'm not a Vikes fan, so, take that for what it's worth.

9. By that reasoning,
so did GHW bush with Jennifer Fitzgerald. Was Jenny any less a scandal just because the BFEE kept it out of the media?

8. As a Vikings fan....

Its not just "his" tickets, he is being accused of fencing almost all of the players tickets.

...I've been following this closely. It broke a couple of days ago...

Assistant coaches have been doing this on all teams...and the league has known they were doing it. But this is the first time that a Head Coach has been accused of it....

Also, some are talking about IRS involvement.

In addition, he has been accused by ex-players of using strong arm tactics to "fence" their Super Bowl tickets through him. Given that he is head coach, and could ruin their career in Minnesota, this could be viewed as extortion. The IRS doesn't like extortion.

It remains to be seen, because the NFL is currently in investigation over this, but it could get pretty seedy.

13. Actually, they have a cheap owner, and he's the lowest....
...paid coach in the NFL. But I get your point. Yes, I could get by on a million a year. Hell, I could retire after a million a year.

12. Big Deal.
I don't see what the problem is really. The NFL is just pissed off that they couldn't grease some politician or corporate bigwig with the tickets. I don't see this as any kind of capital offense.

14. You need to read my post #8.....
...there's actually more issues going on here. Like extortion, IRS tax issues. One person has said he came back from Chicago with $250,000 in gains from the tickets he got from his players. I don't know about you, but to me and I'm sure the IRS, thats not chump change. There's a lot going on with this right now.

16. Absolutely, ....
...and with Tice possibly extorting tickets from players, this could get a lot nastier.

17. My apologies for skipping by that. Yes, this is a big deal.
I don't want Tice fired though because he sucks as a coach and it only helps my team. However, if these allegations are true he'll be lucky to get out of this without being imprisoned. That's some fucked up shit, doesn't he get paid enough as the head coach without having to resort to this?

18. I totally agree with you that he sucks as a head coach....
...believe me, no one knows that more than a Vikings fan. Even though he's the lowest paid coach in the NFL - because the owner is the cheapest coach in the NFL - he is still to make a million this year. Hell, I could retire after one year of that salary. So one has to question his motives on this. Also, he was fencing these tickets through someone whom Tice had promised a certain amount of tickets each year. It would be interesting to know who he was "obligated" to fence them through, i.e., MOB. Its all pretty weird.
