Why are so many of you excited about the next STAR WARS film?
Edited on Fri Mar-11-05 12:53 AM by NightTrain
Wasn't ATTACK OF THE CLONES a piece of shit? (I never saw it myself because the critics universally excoriated the damned thing.) What makes you think Episode III will be any better?

1. AOTC was alright
And actually according to rottentomatoes.com 63% of the critics rated it well.

I thought it was fine. I enjoyed it, thought it had some promising plot twists and despite a crap crap love story sub-plot was overall alright.

Yeah, it and PM paled in comparison to the original trilogy, but I've accepted that it won't probaby be as good as the original 3. It should be good - nothing more than that. It won't be a new "Empire," but hey, that's okay.

4. Well, I am
AOTC wasn't all that great and I came away very disappointed. I've got my fingers crossed and I am so ready for this one.

We see Vader again and that is worth the price of admission to me :)

3. Hopefully the love oooh la la won't be i RotS.
Lucas has his hands pretty full with the end of the Clone Wars, Palpatine's rise to power, and Anakin turning to the dark side.:)

10. I think it will, and I think that's why he goes to the dark side.
But that's just my ASSumption.

I'm hoping it will be good, like the originals.

And plus! You get find out exactly how Darth Vader came to be, that's pretty cool. :D

Plus. I'm a giant geek and it's STAR WARS! :o :silly:

And it's the last chance to check out Mace-he's supposed to be such a hotshot but I'm waiting for the real fighting.

7. Were the Original Films ALL That GREAT?
It is funny how nostalgia, and being about 11 when one first saw the original movies tends to sort of "color" ones memory of them. I go back and watch them today as an adult, and they really weren't any better or worse than the modern Star Wars movies.

9. Nah, they were better...
Well at least Star Wars and Empire were...

I've gone back and watched them as adults and they're still pretty damn good.

ROTJ is almost ruined by the Ewoks, but still manages to end on the right note.

8. Actually AOTC wasn't all that bad...
A reasonably entertaining popcorn flick...
Though Hayden Christiansen is possibly the worst actor on the face of the Earth (and that includes elementary school productions of Peter Pan...) It seems that Lucas specifically set out to find an actor more wooden than Natalie Portman in the Phantom Menace, and succeeded beyond his wildest dreams...

I'll probably watch the third one just to see how it all ends...

11. Because it's DARTH FUCKING VADER!!
Episode I was good except for Jar Jar Binks. Episode II was good. But this one shows how Lord Vader becomes himself. The is the story everyone wants told and it looks to me as if it is going to come off very well. My anticipation level is as great as my 10 year old son's.

12. I've never seen a Star Wars, Star Trek, LOTR, or Harry Potter movie.
I'm all the better because of it.

13. I think because this one we get to see the rise of Vader
who has become a icon of pop culture. The first one sucked, (should have been called the Phantom Plot)while the second one was alright except it still had Jar Jar Binks and the teen who played Anakin was a block of wood (which is bizarre because the kid can act).

15. Natalie Portman can act, too.
Those romantic scenes were so painfully wooden and stilted because George Lucas has become a crap director - they reminded me of early Hal Hartley, except Hartley's stuff was like that on purpose and had a formal reason for being that way. It was a half-and-half deal for me: those scenes hurt to watch half because they were so pisspoor, half because you've seen Hayden Christiansen and Natalie Portman do superb work -- for other directors.

Use the skip scene button on your DVD remote to nuke the worst of those scenes and you have a decent flick.
