He looks like crap. I'm watching the Contender. He looks like he has been mainlining Botox or something. All puffy.

1. GIVE ME AN F!!!
Give me an a, c, e, l, i, f, t!!!!!!

He had some work done, probably the three prong lift where they literally tear your face off and reattach it at a slightly higher angle....

Hey, all that weight he gained for COPLAND (his best performance) stretched out his face, too!

3. That helps explain it a little.
He's a good actor. But he isn't really a boxer, is he? Or is he? Why else would be doing this show?
I told my husband it is about the same as the guy who played Marcus Welby teaching in a medical school.

2. He suffers from Bell's Palsy
And it's congenital, he did not get it from boxing.

6. From what I read many years ago...
...when he was born, the doctor used foreceps (now considered highly dangerous) to remove him. As the result of which, he sustained mild brain damage which explains why one side of his face droops and why he has such slurred speech.

It's rather amazing that someone with that sort of disability could go on to become a major "movie star."

And, while many like to ridicule him on account of his looks and speech, and assume that he's not very intelligent because of them, he did write the original screenplay for Rocky, back before anyone knew who he was. He may be a right-winger, but he's not stupid.

7. I thought, for what it was, the Rocky franchise was good
Better than half the crap you get nowadays. And that running up the steps business is now a part of our culture, to say nothing of the theme song!

Nice morality plays, good versus evil, kind of formulaic, but with a certain pizzazz.

But I was genuinely surprised at his superb performance in COPLAND. He blew me away. And he gained the weight for the part, not out of being lazy. I don't think he got enough credit for that piece of work.
