I Lost A Fish
No, it didn't die.

I literally lost it.

There were three neons when I went to bed last night, and two when I woke up this morning.

I have no idea where the third one went. Its not floting on top of the tank. Its not laying dead on the bottom. Its not in a cave or something.

Its just....gone.

:wtf: happened to my fish?

8. checked the filter
Two have already died on me. The first one I actually watched his last moments and took him out of the tank right after he took his last breath.

The second I woke up to find him attached to the filter tube. The tube itself is too narrow to fit the neons through.

I checked everywhere and its just missing. This is sooo odd.

10. Check the nitrogen cycle balance
and make sure you're feeding them enough. Is it a new tank? I've never had any luck with tetras. Try Danios. They are near impossible to kill. I should know.

12. even if that were the cause of it dying
you'd think there'd be a body somewhere. This is like an episode of CSI or Law and Order.

I can see it now - Law And Order: Special Aquariums Unit

15. LOL!
Law And Order: Special Aquariums Unit would have to book my husband on murder charges for 15 counts of chlorination and 15 counts of electrocution! It was an awful aquarium disaster that blew out fuses in our house and involved an aqaurium heater burning a hole in the carpet. Oh, it was horrible. Only a loach and a white catfish survived that awful day.

5. Was he smaller than the others?
Fish tend to school with fish of their own size, thus less chance of being eaten by one of the other fish in the school. Thus in fish takes fish have to be about the same size or they will eat one anther.

11. nope
The largest fish in the tank is like a 1.5 inch zebra danio. The neons are like a little under and inch.

9. no, that can't be it
yesterday when I wen to bed I had three neons in a tank with four zebra danios.

The danios are too small to eat the neons. The biggest danio is only like a half inch bigger than the neon.
