I am trying to make a bumper sticker that says Never vote for
Republicans again--We Lie It's from an article in the Washington Times. Here is the relavant section of the article
A senior Republican senator said, "The message coming out of the White House is that we'll fix Social Security by raising your taxes and cutting your retirement benefits and, to get something passed, we'll forget about the personal retirement accounts we promised."
The senator said that is like telling voters, "Never vote for Republicans again -- we lie."
I wanted to add a photo of George W, or some other Republican to the bumper sticker. Do any of you all have some suggestions and thoughts on what I've created so far. Here it is

2. She just said....

she wants to add a photo. I'm assuming that is what the space is for.

Personally, I find the graduated background a little harder to read out in traffic. A solid color would probably read better.

10. Hmmmmm....
I'm thinking either black or a REALLY dark blue.

You know how we feel about red around here! Besides, red makes it harder to read the white. And white is a good contrast color for the type.

3. I'd put quotes around it, and an attribution in the corner...
...so they know a Repub said it about Repubs....

It couldn't be read on the road, but it could in parking lots.

7. Thanks Ricardo, putting it in quotes is a good idea.
Considering that the article doesn't identify the Senator how would I attribute it?:hi:

11. My mistake - no attribution
In fact if you Google that phrase you get ZERO returns.

Makes me wonder in the esteemed Washington Times had an exclusive, or just made it up.

4. The general public hasn't read this guy's quote - suggest you change
it slightly to read:

"Never Vote For Republicans Again - They Lie"

I think I will put it in quotes:hi:
edit after I posted I noticed how you phrased it, The only problem with saying "They Lie" is that I want it to be what the senator said:shrug:

15. I like this!
Without a picture, it should be "They" lie, with a picture, it makes sense.

Nice job!

18. Use an em dash instead of the two en dashes
Two en dashes always looks silly - a leftover from the manual typrewriter days.

And I'd put the name of the republican under the photo.

But, since you're quoting, you should up the photo of the guy who said it.

19. The article from the Washington Times just says that a Republican
Senator said that remark. I used the photo of Rep. Sensenbrenner as an example of a Republican Congress person+ he's a Wisconsin Representative. Is this_ an em dash?
Thanks for your comments:hi:

20. No, an em dash is a longer dash
Edited on Fri Mar-11-05 09:32 PM by Rabrrrrrr
Here's a dash: –
Here's an em dash: —

toot-toot
toot—toot

On my screen, they are showing as em dashes in the second example of each of these. Hopefully they still will when they get translated to DU.

On edit: Okay, on DU the em appears to be twice as big as the en, which it shouldn't be, and it isn't showing that way in my editor.

In Word for Windows, you get em dash with alt-0150.

But, you know, it would be just as fine to use just one dash, no matter what type, instead of the two that you have.
