My 15 minutes has, apparently, begun...
Such a venue appealed to James David Walley, a filmmaker at heart who studied it at the California Institute of the Arts in the late 1970s and early '80s. After graduating, he pursued a career in the industry without much success. At 48, Walley had given up on movies and worked developing computer programming and Web design after stints selling vacuum cleaners door-to-door.

Shortly after digital video became available to the public (and that it only costs an estimated 1/10th of a movie made on film), Walley made his first short -- the comedy "Titanic II" -- in 2001. His first feature film, "Messages," wrapped this past fall and was accepted as an entry into the festival. It next shows at the Bare Bones International Film Festival in Oklahoma in April.

"Messages" is about an ordinary man who discovers he is being stalked by an unknown assailant. The film was shot in about six "long weekends" with Walley working as the writer, director and producer along with a cast of 11 and crew of six.

"Every so often that story came back to me, it stayed with me, even if I was trying to forget the whole artistic vocation," he said. "I think its quite a good feature -- I was expressing something that was important for me to express."

1. That's really cool
I'd love to see your movie, but I'll be out of town. Post if it's going to be shown in the Seattle area again anytime soon.

3. We're working on it...
...there's a possibility it may be shown at one or another western Washington festival later this year.
