based on the Lounge-closure paranoia, I thought I'd do some post-whoring by hitting a topic everyone is thinking about.

What would you do if the Lounge got shut down?

8. having the lounge is like, well, like, a place to take a break

in the midst of all the serious topics in the other boards. Since I mostly post in the other boards it's nice to be able to loosen up a bit without leaving DU. Unfortunately, some people never get out of the lounge, but without it I think DU would be just TOO intense, and without balance.

I'm not a die hard lounge lizard or poster but I would visit DU a lot less often if I just had to think of it as more grim work. Got enough of that already, but I get paid for it otherwise, so I would just re-focus elsewhere.

Here's a thought to the admins: don't display lounge threads in "Latest". Then don't worry so much about what gets posted in it; also make the lounge off limits to non-registered or low posters.

Make us earn the right to be in, to see, and to participate in the lounge.

20. i like the idea of limiting the lounge

because i understand their concerns about people seeing some of what we talk and joke about. But if, like you say, they remove access to unregistered people, there goes a lot of the problem. and making a posting requirement would, i think, cut down on the potential of trolls inflating post counts
