Jesus Christ! Does the History Channel ever NOT show Modern Marvels? |
|
Or something WWII related?
I just got direct TV last month and I love watching historical shows but GAWD! Why does every damn show have to be something about WWII, Hitler, or the weapons used in WWII?
Don't people have an interest in something that didn't happen in the 20th century?

Without at least three WWII related programs.
Its nickname is "The Hitler Channel" for a reason.

I check the History Channel site out occasionally to see if there is anything worth unblocking for.

they do show a lot of that...
I like Modern Marvels though, I am always surprised when they come up with a new topic, and they are always so interesting.
But you are right.. somtimes the History Channel can get real played out real fast.

My historical interests are mainly the European history from antiquity through the Renaissance, and I barely ever see anything on it. I don't mind WWII, but some variety would be nice.

I find neat cold war stuff on there often and better yet theres none of that UFO crap or Catch Osama/Saddam crap. I for one dont mind the WWII stuff, and from what Ive seen its not as excessive as people say it is, well maybe not around here, yaeh theres a WWII thing on tonight at 8 but from what I see online its just that.

Now, a constant propoganda machine. I hit the mute button; swearing I'm getting rid of my Sattelite as soon as my 1 year is up; no more cable; read more... but then I'd miss C-SPAN, The Daily Show. Even all the good ole comedy's are gone. It's the most depressing run of network television ever. War. How great it is, etc... etc.. etc...
My History station I was loved sold out a year or more ago. Sadly, so.

... watch 4 hours of "American Chopper" followed by "The Great American Biker Build-off", and "Monster Garage".
They are just as bad.

I haven't actually watched television in like 5 years now other than the handful of shows I provide anonymous asynchronous distributed remote backups for (and I'm forced to watch them to insure data integrity). :-)
Back around 2000, it seemed that the Discovery Channel was about equally split between sharks and dinosaurs.
Is it just my memory failing or did cable channels actually used to show (and sometimes even produce) content? For instance, I seem to vaguely remember a Learning Channel that actually had something more educational than Trading Spaces.

12. I watch a lot of Discovery |
|
I get a nice variety out of those.
I rarely watch History Channel anymore since it mostly focuses on stuff that doesn't interest me.
I like ancient history, astronomy and some of the future technology shows. We have Charter and with that is three or four different discovery channels.
I also enjoy History International. They do have some interesting subjects I like as well.
Hubby loves Monster Garage and Monster House.
