Who was your barber when you were kid.
Mine was Dale who gave everyone the same haircut. A Buzz-cut. It was the style in the 60's.

We did have a drunk barber, but never went there.

5. Ozzie.
He was very weird, had 1 chair and about 40 capacity waiting room. Only knew the one style. I used to get my hair cut, puruse the Playboys (kept in a "special" drawer), then run home to reflect on the photos I'd seen.

10. Simon the Barber
And then, in high school, I turned to Five Buck Phil (a.k.a. Fuck-Up Phil), who could do a cheap, nasty punk rock cut fast, and had Playboys.

11. My grandpa or my dad, both of whom were barbers.
When my dad moved to Florida my mom took over cutting my hair. I did not go to a salon until I was 16 and when my mom found out I got into big time trouble. She did not like the idea that I paid for a haircut.

12. I didn't go to a barber. My mom cut my hair until 8th grade.
Then I went to a "stylist" named Robin. Never a "barber."

14. Her name was Mom.
At least that's what she told me.

Come to think of it, she had a history of lying though. She had this one elaborate story about this Santa Claus guy. You should have hear the whoppers she told about him. Turns out...get this...he doesn't even exist.

16. My Father
When I was around two, he took me to a barber for my first haircut. The barber did a lousy job, so Dad ordered a home barber kit from the Sears catalog. Dad cut my hair from then until I was in High school, when I let it grow shoulder-length.

I used to tell Dad that he was a good father, but a lousy barber....

:-)
