The Plot Against America by Philip Roth |

Who has read this? Scott Simon talked about it on NPR this morning and what he and his guest said intrigued me. Is it a good read?

1. The New Yorker gave it a very good review a wehile back... |
|
Or maybe it was Harpers.
At any rate...it does look intruiging, and it's on my list...
Let us know how it is, if you read it sooner than later.

3. It's excellent. And very disturbing. |

An alternate history in which Charles Lindbergh runs for president against Franklin Roosevelt and wins. He keeps the U.S. out of WWII, becoming an ally of Hitler. The story is mainly about what happens to a middle-class Jewish family after the Lindbergh administration starts supporting Nazi Germany.
There are some unnerving similarities to current events. I recommend it very highly.

I'll bid on the ebay auction. It's cheaper than Amazon or BN.

5. I love "alternate histories" |
|
Another good one is "If Britain Had Fallen", although I forget the author.
And that Kenneth Brannaugh version of Richard III, set in fascist England.
