Ever see a post, and it's all in english, but you haven't a clue what |
|
the poster was trying to say when they wrote it? Could someone decipher this one for me please? Does this make sense to anyone? Is it some kind of code that I just don't have the proper decoder ring for? http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=104&topic_id=3264357&mesg_id=3266168&page=

If you listen to Little Orphan Annie on the radio and send in the labels from Ovaltine, you can get one.
I can't quibble too much, though. I'm rarely able to decipher my own posts.

9. Let's analyze the sentence |
|
This odd thought (odd thought - that's an understatement) struck me a couple of minutes ago or I wonder what anyone were to do or say if a certain Florida Governor or Jeb Bush (a certain governor OR Jeb Bush? Who would this certain governor be if it's not Jeb?) were to get up the audacity to sneak in a milkshake to Terri (if she's in a coma, how is she going to drink the milkshake?). I also wonder what if she were in her present circumstances in ARKANSAS on BILL CLINTON'S watch as Governor and he did the same thing (Does she think Clinton would have fondled her? Maybe bubba would have hogged the milkshake all to himself).
Yes, I agree, it's some kind of code and I can't break it.

He is wondering whether Jeb Bush is thinking of secretly taking a milkshake into Terry Schiavo's hospital room to keep her alive. He then speculates what the consequences would be in a similar situation in Arkansas when Clinton had been governor.
I'm totally under the influence, so I hope this makes sense.

but if he gave it to her it would be through the hole in her throat that held her feeding tube. Jeb would need to get together a new feeding tube to give her the milkshake.

45. Is it in the throat or is it a g-tube? |
|
I have never been too clear on that. I always figured it would be a g-tube (gastric). Most of the tubes that I worked with that were long term were usually g or ng(for meds).

48. I worked five years in a habilitation center. |
|
I just worked the floor. But when I passed meds you have to learn the basics of tubes. A g-tube is in their stomach-it is the most common route for long term use (we had more of these than anything). They can pour the Ensure or whatever the doctor prescribes through the plunger and down the tube. As to the Bush argument (about the milkshake)-if the hole is there, you would just have to get another tube (very similiar to a catheter tube). When I worked in the hab center (putting myself through school) they used to have the med people assist (set up, passing the equipment and clean up). A nurse showed me exactly how they do it. She said that it pretty easy to do and that most people could insert a clean tube, with a little practice. I was just curious (happens sometimes).

all it said was that Jeb might want to sneak in a feed Terry Schiavo a milkshake. Then it asked what Clinton might do if the case had been in AK. I deciphered it easily because I have lots of experience reading near incomprehensible student exams. It's odd they deleted it. It was on the strange side, but I didn't see anything prohibited.

Odd, to me, that this was deleted. I know it might have caused discussion, since I now understand what it was about, but it's hardly a Freeper disruptor. I know the poster, who's been here much longer than I have, and she is not one to start flame wars. As for Jeb Bush sneaking Terri a milkshake, that's just silly, but not against any DU rules I know. And, as far as I know, Clinton hasn't weighed on this. The poor guy has his own medical problems.:-(
As for you having to read similar student exams, you truly have my sympathy! :scared:

Violates. And I have spent considerable time, since I've been on DU, in the I/P forum, so I am more aware of the rules than most, since they are the strictest there. Maybe the mod thought this was causing a flame war? I'm sure that Valerie5555 had no such intention. And discussion is what we are here for, so you've got me swinging.

Or members. But, as far as deleted posts are concerned, if you really want to know, you can ask in the Ask the Admins forum. I cannot promise that you'll get an answer, but that's the correct place to do it. I wish for more specifics, as well, but things have been rough, lately, especially in GD, so I think they've probably had their hands full, including with the ever-present Freeper disruptors, enough to drive anyone batty!
