I just hate new country music |
|
ANd I work at a country music station. I thought at some point it would grow on me. But it won't. I just find it so....blah.
But I love JOhnny Cash, Merle Haggard, Willy Nelson, and Jack Prine.,... all that stuff is awesome.
But Toby Keith and Allan Jackson and stuff is just had to like.

1. You're right, it sucks |
|
I like the old-time stuff, though, Patsy Cline, Hank Williams, etc. And bluegrass, I love bluegrass. And yodeling cowboys like Wilf Carter or Riders in the Sky.

3. Dixie Chicks said it best |
|
"they sound tired, but they don't sound Haggard they got money but they don't have Cash they got junior but they don't have Hank..."
Go to kgsr.com and give their online stream a listen, they play a bunch of 'alt country' in addition to 'adult alternative' and Texas music... you might like it. I'm an addict.

4. Old country artists influenced artists of all types. |
|
New country artists seem to only influence other new country artists. They all sound the same to me.

Like all genres, there's some good and some bad. Alan Jackson I like a lot - he's kept traditional elements while modernizing. Toby Keith has gone downhill.

6. Yeah, I love the Carter Family too. |
|
But country music nowadays stinks. Don't like Garth Brooks or Toby Keith.

Again, just because you don't like a genre doesn't mean it automatically stinks. If I listen long enough to country radio, I always find some well played stuff with clever lyrics. Nashville songwriters have a lot of talent when they want to use it. I don't like hip-hop, but I respect those who do. :hi:

Sorry about that one. I really just don't like the country station. But country music could be fine nowadays. I don't think the best of it gets on the radio.

Sometimes the hit single is not the best. I find that to be the case elsewhere, too.
I just thought I'd defend the genre a little. I will let the topic be now. :-)

11. Aleternative stations have a little much Maroon 5 |
|
Otherwise, depending on the station, they play some fresh acts like White Stripes. It's a good thing that if I like a song, I don't tire of it easily. That saves alt-radio and top 40 for me.

12. I suspect that the many new country artists |
|
tried to make it in pop music and when they couldn't, they called it "country". A woman I work with told me that she just looooves country music, 'cept she doesn't like banjos, fiddles or steel guitars. Uh, okay.
