Cooking Question! How Much Rice do I make for this? |
|
I want to make that old dish, where you mix Rice and Campbell's Cream of Mushroom Soup together.
How much rice should I make, so that I don't end up with extra Rice?

4. You know, some folks serve it with roasted chicken |
|
and the Rice is made by mixing Rice and Campbell's Cream of Mushroom Soup together.

2. Generally speaking, a cup of rice in two cups of water |
|
makes about four servings.

5. Is that enough so that it doesn't end up being... |
|
Mushroom and Rice soup? I want it to sort of stick together.

6. I'm not exactly sure what you're doing here |
|
Are you adding the mushroom soup to the rice after it's cooked, or trying to cook the rice in the mushroom soup some way. It would make about three or four cups of rice I think.

Bring the water to a full boil add the rice, a smattering of salt, and a drop of oil and all will be well. Not necessarily in that order.
Simmer for aboout 45 minutes or until tender. n/t

8. In this house, we try to end up with extra rice, because we love |
|
it so much.
But rice is generally one part rice to two parts liquid.
So 1 c. rice = 2 c water or broth or whatever your liquid is.
Good luck!
Oh and look on the can, sometimes the recipe is on there.

9. I found this at Campbell's Soup Web site |
|
Except, I'm not doing the Chicken part, and I'm using Regular Brown Rice, NOT Minute Rice. Any suggestions on things to change to make it work right?
Chicken & Rice Dinner from: Campbell's Kitchen
Prep/Cook Time: 25 min.
Ingredients: 1 tbsp. vegetable oil 4 boneless chicken breast halves 1 can (10 3/4 oz.) Campbell's® Cream of Mushroom Soup OR 98% Fat Free Cream of Mushroom Soup 1 1/2 cups water 1 1/2 cups uncooked Minute® White Rice 2 cups fresh OR frozen broccoli flowerets
Directions: HEAT oil in skillet. Add chicken and cook until browned. Remove chicken.
ADD soup and water. Heat to a boil.
STIR in rice and broccoli. Top with chicken. Cover and cook over low heat 5 min. or until done. Serves 4.
