"Be Cool" SUCKED. It tries SO hard to be a cross between "Get Shorty" |
|
and a Generic Quentin Tarantino Movie, that it just goes NOWHERE.
No character interest, little story interest; disjointed, non-fulfilling fluff.
Is it just me? Or did it get high numbers on the debut based strictly on the cast?
Bets on, word of mouth goes flop.

3. The book wasn't up to the standard of Get Shorty |
|
so it stands to reason. AND, the book version of the former beat hell out of the movie.

Check it out... I think I'll pass. "Be Cool" is a movie that knows it is a movie. It knows it is a sequel and contains disparaging references to sequels. All very cute at the screenplay stage, where everybody can sit around at story conferences and assume that a scene will work because the scene it refers to worked. But that's the case only when the new scene is also good as itself, apart from what it refers to. http://rogerebert.suntimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20050303/REVIEWS/50221002/1023

6. It was Elmore Leonard's worst book, too |
|
I didn't care for the first one. He's just not an interesting character, compared to most of Leonard's characters.
