Poll question: How French™ Are you? |
|
Edited on Mon Mar-14-05 01:01 PM by UdoKier
IN honor of Cal Thomas's latest brilliant diatribe, in which he claims the Left is doing an "impersonation of the French, who stand for nothing."
(Of course he is half right, in the case of the DINOs, they are exacty like the Vichy French, having utterly surrendered to the Fascist GOP juggernaut.)

He's one of the original Moral Majority panty-sniffers.
I'll take my opinions from him right after Jesus has a sex-change operation.

2. No, the problem is that the French stood in opposition to the Iraq war |
|
French won the American Revolution for us, too, with Admiral De Grasse blockading Yorktown from re-supply by the British fleet, and Rochambeau's troops aiding Washington.
Americans forget so easily (if they ever knew in the first place).

3. Of course, the french were 100% right on the war, as were the Germans |
|
But I though it interesting and amusing that the right decided to latch on to the French as their whipping boy, despite the fact that Germany (and huge majorities throughout the world) also opposed the war.
If the right believes in democracy, why do they want all these governments to ignore the will of their own people by supporting the Iraq invasion? Oh yeah, that would be because they HATE democracy.

4. The French have a strong military |
|
Have outposts around the world, have shown since DeGaulle that they are independent, and have nuclear weapons
In a word, the French are a real threat to Bush's world domination
Germany is still emerging from post - WWII vassal state status.

5. Which War, Iraq or the Revolution???? |
|
Remember not only did France Support the US, by the end of the Revolution Frederick the Great of Prussia had formed an alliance of Armed Neutrals in the Conflict. Frederick was mad at Britain for taking Danzig (Polish: Gdansk) in 1774 during the First Partition of Poland AND how the British were trying to control the Baltic trade.
Thus Germany and France supported the US against Britain in 1781, like Germany and France opposed the US going into Iraq in 2002.
