A cute story about bronzed baby shoes.... |
|
There were four kids in my family. In our living room, while I was growing up, my mother always displayed our first baby shoes - bronzed and put up on nice little wooden plaques with our names on them. They were there forever.
Recently, my mother decided to distribute them to us, but they needed a little repairing - some of the shoes needed to be reattached more tightly. So as she was repairing my twin-sister's, she looked at the bottom of the shoes for the first time in 43 years, and saw that MY shoes had been put on my sister's plaque, and HER shoes had been put on mine.
She called my sister to ask what to do. Should she fix it? My sister said NO! They've always been that way! So now my twin has my shoes on her plaque, and I have her shoes on mine.
Sweet, huh?

they're not really "bronzed". Just sort of coated in a bronze-colored paint, I guess.
She found some guy who did it cheap back in the early 60s. We couldn't afford real bronzing.

My sister and I had ours bronzed...well, it's silver, so I'm not sure what it is. We both got ours a few years ago and thankfully the shoes are still in place. Our names are engraved and there are pictures of us wearing our shoes attached.

My mom had my shoes bronzed that are next to a framed picture of me wearing them (pre-bronzed). My mom also kept the silk rose they put up at the church for my baptism.
Do they even do the bronzing of shoes anymore? My sister-in-law didn't do that for my nephews, and she's definitely the kind of person who would.

11. you just know there are people out there who |
|
have bronzed their baby's first pair of Air Nike. I never understood why parents would buy babies expensive shoes, but the thought of having them bronzed is hilarious to me...probably because it's 2:30am and I'm delirious with insomnia.
