As long as it's recognized, you're okay.
You're only in trouble when you plug it in, get an error message, spend 8 hours on the web looking for drivers, and STILL can't get XP to recognize your device.
Then it's time to get a Mac :D

Both my Canon PowerShot a75 and my RCA Lyra mp3 player use flash cards (seperate types) yet both use the same USB cord when connected to my computer. My WinXP recognizes both as external drives and I can transfer any type of file I want to them, even if they aren't pictures or mp3s.
