2. They're using the T-34 to lend a bit of dazzle to the vodka.
Few Americans know how much the Russians revere the T-34. It has almost a cult following for being "the Weapon" that helped them defeat the Nazis. And being something of a tank expert, i can tell you that is no idle boast. The T-34 was the most advanced, revolutionary tank in the world when it went into battle against Germany's slab-sided Pkw III's and IV's. The crude finish and frequent lack of paint made it look unprepossessing, but it was a tough, ferocious war-winner.

The label seems to be saying: "Now captured in a VODKA!!"

I've noticed there's something of a Soviet-era-symbolism revival in Russia, as well as other ex-"communist" countries. Interesting that 15 years is enough for the scars to heal enough that the mention of "communism" doesn't evoke just bitterness, but also nostalgia.
