Tonight's episode of Super Nanny is proving to be quite interesting

The guy's kids spit on the poor nanny and there's no control in the house, the kids smack each other, etc. Mom is absolutely losing it. House is absolutely chaos.

Dad (I'm paraphrasing here) doesn't want his kids coddled (liberal parents coddle)
Uh, your kids told the nanny to leave, go back to her own country, and they spit on her, and you are worried about liberal parents' kids?

:eyes:

1. How many kids do they have?
It seems to me all these dysfunctional families on the Nanny reality programs have three or more kids. They all seem to be upper middle class yuppie types too.

I don't think they have shown any one or two child families.

There is something to be said for only taking on what you can handle.

2. I think it's all about the boundaries, not the number of kids
I have friends with 3 kids who are nothing like what I see on that show.

And god knows in the OLD days when 5 kids wasn't unusual that behavior would not be tolerated.

In fact I think kids in bigger families are less likely to be indulged because there's no damn time for it.

5. Oh I agree it's not just the number of kids.

I am sure their are families with 10 kids that are very loving.

It just seems to me that for some reason, the parents on these shows really don't seem to like their kids, or their spouses. I just don't get why they have so many kids. They also seem very materialistic and self absorbed.

9. On SUPERNANNY???? Oh no. These parents are diaper whipped!
<snap!>

These are some seriously whipped parents. They are so terrified of giving the kids a reasonable civil boundary they'll get hit in the face and called names and then APOLOGIZE.

Funny, I grew up with a fairly liberal mother and I learned respect for others. :)

I just hate blanket comments like that, uh, look at your own house before criticizing others, Dad. Of course, Dad seems to leave all the raising of the kids to Mom. :eyes:

Dad also hits the bed with the belt, to show kids who's boss. :eyes:

Again, this episode is pretty interesting. :)

4. My neighbors have only one child and I would pay
Supernanny to straighten them out. She has never been taught that anyone matters but HER.

Then the other neighbors down the street have 3 kids who are really nice and respectful of other people's feelings.

8. Now, Dad's improved but Mom is now the problem
I love drama.

It's amazing the twists and turns this show takes. :silly:
